Cranial Sacral Therapy for Infants

Cranial Sacral Therapy for Infants

A newborn goes thru an incredible process to be born.  This labor of love is complete with a full range of incredible sensations and emotions, a cycle of effects and responses.   Even the happiest of birth stories carries with them an element of transformation and healing.  A birth story with unforeseen complications brings forth challenges to find the best care and support.  Finding ways to support integration and well being for baby are essential in this beautiful transition into new life.

CST for Infants is essential for new baby wellness.  A newborn CST session can minimize or eliminate the repercussions of difficult births and help ensure good health for well babies. CST for Infants has a positive lasting effect on children thru adulthood.  By addressing imbalances initially while the baby is new, years of discomfort and symptoms can be avoided.  Children receive physical and emotional support with CST.

During a CST for Infants evaluation and session your baby can be active or asleep.

I will move with your baby’s movements while treating your child.

You can feel comfortable that you and your infant won’t have to stay still during a session.

They may have an emotional release, they may cry, and the CST will not at all hurt your baby.

CST uses very gentle pressure* about the weight of a nickel to gently assess the bone placement and to bring mobility to areas that may be stuck.

During vaginal Birth the process of molding also called configuration happens.  This is when the cranial bones fold over each other to pass thru the mother’s pelvis and delivered thru the birth canal.  The sutures made of connective tissue between the bones and the bones themselves have a great deal of flexibility to accommodate this configuration.  Ideally the bones slide back into the correct anatomical position.  Often times these cranial bones as well as the entire skeletal system need subtle encouragement to find alignment.

CTS for newborns and children brings about optimal cranial nerve function, proper digestion, effective sensory and motor skills, communication of the central and peripheral nervous system.   If any injuries occur during child birth these issues can be repaired thru the gentle nurturing touch of CST.  Trauma both emotional and physical can be cleared.  Babies are very resilient and open, their ability to heal from trauma is remarkable.  CST gives babies the invitation and guidance to find more comfort and ease during their development.

Surgical Birth
Cesarean birth can be harder on babies than we imagine.  Cesarean-born babies have lower Apgar scores, more respiratory distress, more abnormal neurological exams, and more abnormal Craniosacral evaluations. They have more chronic middle ear infections and other problems throughout childhood. The birth process is more abrupt and potentially more frightening than vaginal birth. Surgically born infants have fewer quiet alert periods right after birth and have less opportunity to share bonding time with their mothers who may be unconscious or recovering in another room. CST can effectively address all of these things.

lack of normal mobility in utero, precipitous or prolonged labor, vacuum extraction, forceps or cesarean birth.
